Defect
Within the power control unit, the DC-DC converter circuit contains a component manufactured under inadequate quality controls. This causes the unit to enter control mode after a cold start and cut power supply to the battery. The battery becomes insufficiently charged, triggering warning lights and warning messages, and the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the power supply control software in the power control unit with the corrected updated software.
