Filing in context
The Other (Suspension/Damping System) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 2 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 4 Subaru notifications from 2005 in this archive. For scale, 664 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 11 months.
Defect
① The rear stabilizer bar is incorrectly shaped. When the vehicle undergoes large torsional movement on wet road surfaces, the stabilizer bar may shift laterally and contact the union bolt of the rear brake caliper. This contact may loosen the bolt, allowing brake fluid to leak and reducing braking force.
Corrective action
① On all vehicles, inspect the union bolt for loosening and the brake system for fluid leaks. On any vehicle where the bolt is loose or fluid is leaking, replace the union bolt with a new part. Additionally, install a stopper on the rear stabilizer bar.
