Defect
On four-wheel-drive vehicles, the drive pinion lock nut in the rear axle differential was insufficiently staked against rotation. Repeated acceleration and deceleration cycles may cause the lock nut to loosen. As the lock nut loosens, the drive pinion contacts and damages the differential gear case, which may render the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the lock nut for looseness. If the nut is secure, replace it with a conforming part. If looseness is found, replace the entire rear axle differential assembly with a conforming unit.

状況
４輪駆動車の後軸差動装置において、ドライブピニオンのロックナットに回り止め加工 が不十分なものがあり、発進等の繰り返しにより当該ロックナットが緩むことがある。そ のため、ドライブピニオンとデファレンシャルギヤケースが干渉して損傷し、走行できな くなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ロックナットの締付け状態を点検し、緩みのないものは、ロックナットを良品 と交換する。また、緩みのあるものは、後軸差動装置一式を良品と交換する。
