Defect
In the power transmission system of manual transmission-equipped vehicles, the gear shift shaft was assembled in the wrong orientation, causing some units to have bolt seating surfaces that do not make full contact. Continued use may cause the bolt to loosen and fall out. In the worst case, gear shifting becomes impossible.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the gear shift lever rear case set with a conforming unit.
