Defect
This defect applies to wheelchair-accessible mobility vehicles produced by lowering the rear floor through modifications to the floor structure and suspension of the base vehicle. In the fuel system, the rear floor has insufficient rigidity. When the rear floor is lowered, force applied through the stopper deforms the floor, imposing excessive stress on the fuel tank mounting points fixed to the floor. Repeated floor lowering cycles may cause the fuel tank to crack, in the worst case resulting in a fuel leak.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, add reinforcement members to the floor stopper mounting area, replace the rear fuel tank mounting bracket with a redesigned corrected part, and replace the fuel tank with a new unit.
