Defect

On the ball joint connecting the front suspension lower arm to the steering knuckle, the staking of the retaining bracket is insufficient on some units. Water intrusion through the inadequately staked area causes rust on the ball, which leads to abnormal wear of the resin bearing. In the worst case, the ball joint may fracture and separate from the arm, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the lower arm ball joint. Units with excessive wear are to be replaced with corrected parts. Units showing no abnormality are to have sealant applied to the staked area. Because supply of corrected parts requires time, owners will be notified of this recall and contacted again once parts are available.

状況

前輪緩衝装置のロアアームとナックルを連結しているボールジョイントにおいて、保持金 具のかしめに不十分なものがあるため、このままの状態で使用を続けると、当該部分から の水の侵入によるボールの錆で樹脂ベアリングが異常摩耗し、最悪の場合、ボールジョイ ントが破損してアームから外れ、走行不能となるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、当該ロアアームボールジョイントを点検し、摩耗量の大きいものは対策品と交換 する。また、点検で異常のないものについては、当該かしめ部にシール剤を塗布する。な お、対策品の供給に時間を要するため、使用者に届出内容を告知し、対策品の準備が整い 次第、点検入庫の案内を実施する。
