Defect

The rain-leak test procedure used at the manufacturing facility was improper, allowing water to enter the wiper motor through its air vent during testing. This water ingress increased the electrical resistance of the motor brushes. Continued use in this condition may cause poor current flow to the motor's internal coil, resulting in wiper motor failure.

Corrective action

On all vehicles that underwent the rain-leak test, replace the wiper motor with a corrected part.
