Filing in context
The Other devices is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 2 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 19 Hino notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 3,394 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 9 months.
Issue
In the driver assistance system of heavy-duty trucks, the vehicle control ECU contains an incorrect program that prevents braking force from being maintained when the Driver Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) activates and brings the vehicle to a stop. If the system activates and the vehicle stops on a slope or incline, the vehicle may begin to roll.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the vehicle control ECU with the corrected/updated software.
