Issue

The combination of motor brush material and steering gear ratio in the electric power steering (EPS) system is inappropriate. Repeatedly turning the steering wheel to full lock causes high current to flow through the motor's internal armature wiring, which is designed to smooth motor rotation. This can cause a short circuit in that wiring, illuminating the EPS warning light and increasing the steering effort required to operate the wheel.

Corrective action

Replace the EPS motor assembly on all vehicles with a corrected part.

状況

電動式パワーステアリング(EPS)のモータのブラシ材質とステアリングギヤ比の組み合わせが不適切なため、ハンドルが止まるまで据え切り操作を繰り返すと、モータの回転を均一にするための内部配線に大電流が流れる場合がある。そのため、当該配線が短絡してEPS警告灯が点灯するとともにハンドルの操作力が増大するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、EPSモータ一式を対策品と交換する。
