Filing in context
The Accelerator is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 34 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 16 Suzuki notifications from 2007 in this archive. For scale, 637 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 6 months.
Issue
The throttle cable is improperly assembled, leaving the waterproof boot on the throttle body side retaining bracket incorrectly seated. Repeated throttle operation can cause the boot to become nipped in the cable take-up section of the throttle body. In the worst case, the throttle cable may fail to return, preventing engine speed from decreasing.
Corrective action
Inspect the assembly condition of the throttle cable boot on the throttle body side on all vehicles. Replace the throttle cable with a conforming part on any vehicle where the boot is found to be displaced.
