Filing in context
The Accelerator is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 34 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 13 Suzuki notifications from 2006 in this archive. For scale, 805 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 years and 1 month.
Defect
The accelerator cable is routed improperly, concentrating stress on the casing cap that secures the cable to the body. This stress concentration may damage the cap. Continued use allows the broken cap end to contact and wear the inner cable, which may, in the worst case, cause the inner cable to fracture, resulting in loss of accelerator control.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the accelerator cable with a corrected part and modify the cable routing.
