Filing in context
The Shock Absorber is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 11 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 12 Suzuki notifications from 2011 in this archive. For scale, 408 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 years and 7 months.
Issue
On the rear shock absorbers, the spring design and the piston rod retaining nut are improperly configured, causing excessive force to be applied to the piston rod on some units. Continued use in this condition may cause the threaded section of the piston rod to fracture, resulting in complete loss of the shock absorber's damping function.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the rear shock absorbers with corrected parts incorporating a revised spring design and revised piston rod retaining nut.
