Issue
The pulley geometry on the alternator—which incorporates an internal vacuum pump—is improperly designed. If the alternator drive belt is adjusted to excessive tension during maintenance, engine speed fluctuations cause the belt to wear prematurely. If use continues in this condition, the belt may fail in the worst case, stopping the vacuum pump and impairing brake booster function, which reduces braking force. Note: when the belt is adjusted within the specified value, it retains sufficient durability.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the alternator. Where an uncorrected part is installed, replace the alternator with a corrected part and replace the alternator drive belt with a new one.

状況
負圧ポンプを内蔵したオルタネータのプーリ形状が不適切なため、整備時、オルタネー タドライブベルトを過張力で調整すると、エンジンの回転変動により当該ベルトが早期に 摩耗する場合がある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、ベルト が破損し、負圧ポンプが停止することによりブレーキ倍力機能が損なわれ、制動力が低下 するおそれがある。なお、当該ベルトが規定値内の調整の場合は、当該ベルトは十分な耐 久性がある。
改善措置
全車両、オルタネータを点検し、未対策品が装着されているものはオルタネータを対策品 にオルタネータドライブベルトを新品と交換する。
