Defect
The bolts securing the tailgate stopper to the body-side bracket are insufficiently tightened, allowing them to loosen during use. Continued use in this condition increases stress at the bolt locations due to play that develops. In the worst case, the bracket weld may detach or the bolt may fracture, causing the stopper to come free and allowing the tailgate to drop from its fully open position. Note: This notification supersedes recall No. 1150 filed on July 2, 2004, in which the corrective measures were determined to be insufficient. The remedy has been revised and additional vehicles have been added to the scope of this recall.
Corrective action
Inspect the tailgate stopper mounting bracket on all vehicles. If the bracket is undamaged, apply thread-locking compound to the body-side mounting bolt threads and tighten to the specified torque. If the bracket is damaged, replace the bracket and the tailgate stopper, then apply thread-locking compound to the body-side mounting bolt threads and tighten to the specified torque.

状況
テールゲートストッパをボデー側ブラケットに取付けるボルトの締付け力が不足しているため、使用過程でボルトが緩むことがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、当該ボルト部にガタが生じることにより応力が増加し、最悪の場合、ブラケット溶接部の剥離またはボルトの折損が発生し、ストッパが外れ、テールゲート全開端からテールゲートが降下するおそれがある。 (備考)本届出は、平成16年7月2日付け「届出番号1150」のリコール届出において、不具合に対する改善措置の内容が不十分であったため、改善措置の内容を見直すとともに、新たに対象車両を追加し、再度対策を行うものである。
改善措置
全車両テールゲートストッパの取付けブラケットを点検し、ブラケットに損傷がない場合は、ボデー側取付けボルトのネジ部にネジロック剤を塗布の上、適正トルクで締付ける。ブラケットに損傷がある場合は、ブラケットを交換するとともにテールゲートストッパを交換し、ボデー側取付けボルトのネジ部にネジロック剤を塗布の上、適正トルクで締付ける。
