Defect
The water pump housing has insufficient wall thickness at the timing belt idler pulley mounting area, leaving that area with inadequate strength. Continued operation can cause the mounting area to fracture and the pulley to detach. Loss of the pulley causes the timing belt to disengage, resulting in valve timing deviation and, in the worst case, engine damage.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the water pump. If an uncorrected unit is installed, replace it with a corrected part.

状況
ウォーターポンプにおいて、タイミングベルト用アイドラプーリ取付け部の肉厚が薄い ため、強度が不足している。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、 取付け部が破損し、当該プーリが脱落し、タイミングベルトが外れバルブタイミングがず れ、原動機が損傷するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ウォーターポンプを点検し、未対策品が装着されている場合は、対策品と交換す る。
