Filing in context
The Other devices is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 2 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 4 Honda notifications from 2026 in this archive. For scale, 995 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years and 3 months.
Defect
In the locking device, the bolt securing the handlebar lock is improperly tightened during assembly, resulting in insufficient clamping force in some units. Continued use causes the bolt to loosen, preventing the handlebar from being locked when the vehicle is parked. Additionally, if the displaced bolt becomes wedged in the frame, the handlebar may lose the ability to steer. In the worst case, this may cause the vehicle to fall over.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the handlebar lock securing bolt with a new part and tighten it to the specified torque value. Note: Because parts procurement requires additional time, owners will be notified of the defect in the interim and contacted again once parts are available.
