Defect

In the powertrain, an incorrect control program in the integrated drive force control unit may cause electrical noise generated by the unit's power supply IC to be misidentified as a fault. When this occurs, the power system warning light illuminates and the fail-safe mode activates, shutting down the engine and drive motor and leaving the vehicle unable to travel. In addition, on-board diagnostic (OBD) data may be erased, causing the vehicle to not conform to the Safety Standards.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, reprogram the integrated drive force control unit with the corrected software.
