Filing in context

The Battery is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 20 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 32 Honda notifications from 2025 in this archive. For scale, 2,014 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 7 months.

Defect

In the motor power supply unit, improper management of the jigs used to manufacture the battery cells inside the high-voltage battery has allowed foreign matter to enter some cells. If the foreign matter penetrates through the electrode layers inside the cell, electrolyte leaks and the power system warning light illuminates. Continued operation causes battery output to decline and results in poor acceleration. Additionally, in low-temperature environments, the leaked electrolyte may damage the temperature sensor, causing the control system to activate and cut battery output. The drive-unable warning light then illuminates and the vehicle may become inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the high-voltage battery with a conforming unit.
