Filing in context
The Fuel Injection System is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 23 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 15 Isuzu notifications from 2003 in this archive. For scale, 1,647 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years.
Defect
In the engine fuel injection system, the O-rings around the injectors have insufficient heat resistance. Age-related deterioration degrades their sealing performance, allowing fuel to mix into the engine oil and causing the oil pan level to rise abnormally. Continued use allows the fuel-contaminated oil to enter the intake manifold through the blow-by hose, causing engine speed to increase uncontrollably.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the affected O-rings with the corrected parts.
Affected models & chassis ranges
This filing lists 2 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
