Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Honda & Isuzu.
The Fuel Injection System is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 23 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 16 Honda notifications from 2008 in this archive. For scale, 1,549 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 4 years and 1 month.
Defect
The injector (fuel injection valve) in the engine's fuel injection system has an improperly designed dimensional specification. On some units, the clearance between the plunger and barrel is excessive, causing the O-ring to deform and sustain damage, compromising its seal and allowing diesel fuel to contaminate the engine oil. Continued operation causes oil pan volume to increase. The diesel-contaminated oil is then drawn through the blowby hose into the intake manifold, which may cause engine speed to rise uncontrollably.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, verify the injector serial numbers. Where applicable, replace all cylinder injectors with corrected parts.
Affected models & chassis ranges
This filing lists 3 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
| Type code (型式) | Model | Chassis ranges |
|---|---|---|
| KH-UBS73DW | Bighorn | UBS73DW-7200006 — UBS73DW-7200374 |
