Filing in context
The Parking Brake - General is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 2 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 27 Mitsubishi notifications from 2025 in this archive. For scale, 2,450 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 11 months.
Defect
A manufacturing defect in an internal component of the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) may cause the system to detect an overcurrent condition during apply or release operations, shutting down the brake system. This may result in insufficient braking force or brake drag. An amber EPB warning lamp illuminates in the instrument cluster; however, if the driver continues operating the vehicle without noticing the brake drag, the brakes may overheat, and in the worst case, surrounding components may catch fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the EPB with a corrected part. If evidence of brake drag is found, also replace the brake assembly.
