Filing in context
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Brake lamps as the affected component. This filing is one of 41 Mitsubishi notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 2,215 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years and 5 months.
Defect
On small buses, an error in the brake lamp switch assembly instructions caused some units to be installed with the push rod protrusion length below the specified value. As a result, the brake lamps may fail to illuminate when the brake pedal is applied with light pressure. Additionally, if this condition occurs while the hill-start assist system (EZGO) is active, the ECU may incorrectly detect a system fault, deactivating the autonomous emergency braking system (AEBS) and the vehicle stability control system (ASR) and illuminating warning lights.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the brake lamp switch push rod protrusion length. If the measurement is outside the specified value, adjust it to the specified value.
