Filing in context
The Computer is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 42 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 21 Nissan notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 2,350 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 6 months.
Defect
The Power Network Separate (PNS) relay, which controls circuit connection between the 12V main battery and the 12V sub-battery, was developed with insufficient evaluation of the control program's behavior during power supply voltage fluctuations. When the vehicle is powered on while the 12V battery voltage is low, the PNS relay may switch off and interrupt power supply to the 12V sub-battery. If the vehicle is driven in this condition, the sub-battery voltage drops, causing warning lights on the combination meter to illuminate. In the worst case, once the vehicle is stopped, it may be unable to return to the READY ON state.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the Power Network Separate relay control software.
