Defect

The propeller shaft universal joints on fire pump trucks were manufactured using components without grease grooves, preventing sufficient grease from being injected into the joint. Insufficient lubrication causes the universal joint to fracture. In the worst case, the propeller shaft may detach, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all affected vehicles, replace the complete propeller shaft assembly (both shafts) with corrected parts.

状況

消防ポンプ自動車のプロペラシャフトにおいて、ユニバーサルジョイント部にグリス溝が無い部品を採用していた為、グリスが充分に注入されないものがある。そのため、潤滑不足によりユニバ―サルジョイント部が破損し、最悪の場合、プロペラシャフトが脱落して走行不能となるおそれがある。

改善措置

対象車両に対し、プロペラシャフト一式(2本)を対策品に交換する。
