Defect

During the propeller shaft manufacturing process, anti-rust oil may have adhered to the flange mating surfaces of the intermediate joint. Repeated abrupt clutch engagement and disengagement can cause the flange fastening bolts to loosen. This produces abnormal noise and vibration while driving. In the worst case, the intermediate joint flange may separate, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, remove the anti-rust oil from the flange mating surfaces, replace the fastening bolts with new units, and torque them to the specified value. If loosening of the flange fastening is found, replace the propeller shaft with a new unit.

状況

プロペラシャフトの製造工程において、中間ジョイントのフランジ接合面に防錆油が付着しているものがあるため、クラッチの急な断続操作を繰り返すとフランジの締結ボルトがゆるむことがある。そのため、走行中に異音や振動が発生し、最悪の場合、中間ジョイントのフランジが外れ走行不能となるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、フランジ接合面の防錆油を除去し、締結ボルトを新品と交換して規定トルクで締付ける。なお、フランジの締結にゆるみがある場合は、プロペラシャフトを新品と交換する。
