Defect
Incorrect torque instructions for the starter through-bolts allow the bolts to loosen over time, causing internal components to shift out of position and reducing starter output. Continued use under this condition can result in the engine failing to start. If starting is repeatedly attempted in this state, the starter overheats and, in the worst case, may cause a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the starter. If the through-bolts show no loosening, retorque them to specification. If loosening is found, replace the starter with a corrected part and replace the starter relay with a new unit. If internal component displacement is also present, replace the electrical wiring with new components as well.

状況
スタータにおいて、スルーボルトの締付指示が不適切なため、経年で当該ボルトが緩み、構成部品の位置がずれてスタータの出力が不足することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、エンジン始動不能となり、その状態で始動操作を繰返すとスタータが過熱し、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、スタータを点検し、スルーボルトの緩みがない場合は増締めを行う。スルーボルトの緩みが認められる場合はスタータを対策品に、スタータリレーを新品に交換する。また、構成部品の位置ずれが認められる場合は電気配線も新品に交換する。
