Defect
The starter has insufficient water ingress protection due to inadequate design consideration. Driving aggressively through standing water or puddles allows water to enter the starter relay. Continued operation allows the relay contacts to short circuit, preventing engine starting. In the worst case, a vehicle fire may occur.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the starter with the corrected part.

状況
スタータにおいて、防水性の検討が不十分なため、水溜まり等を勢いよく走行するとスタータのリレー内部に水が浸入することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、接点部が短絡しエンジン始動不能や、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、スタータを対策品に交換する。
