Defect
In the plug-in hybrid system, the battery charge and discharge control is incorrectly calibrated. When battery voltage drops after sustained EV mode operation, a sudden acceleration input may cause voltage to fall further than anticipated. This may trigger a warning light and cause the hybrid system to shut down.
Corrective action
Reprogram the hybrid vehicle control computer on all vehicles with corrected software.
