Filing in context
The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 39 Mitsubishi notifications from 2022 in this archive. For scale, 2,806 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years and 5 months.
Defect
On large tour buses, the routing of the lower swing door harness is incorrect. During door opening and closing, the harness contacts surrounding components and undergoes excessive bending. Continued use can cause wiring within the harness to break, leading to malfunctions in electrical components including the pilot lamp, side turn lamp, and door glass heater. In the worst case, abnormal odor and smoke may occur.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the wiring from the door actuator to the door entrance of the lower swing door harness with new wiring, and add plastic band clamps to secure the routing. On vehicles where the service box lower cover is made of resin, replace the lower cover bracket with the corrected part.
