Defect
In the automatic adjustment mechanism (strut set) that regulates the clearance between the rear brake shoes and brake drum, inadequate management of the grease application equipment during parts assembly results in insufficient grease on the adjuster bolt threads. Continued use in this condition allows the threads to rust and seize, causing the automatic adjustment mechanism to stop functioning.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the adjuster bolt. If the bolt is seized, replace the strut set with a conforming replacement part. If the bolt is not seized, clean the threads and apply grease.

状況
後輪ブレーキのシューとドラムの隙間を自動で調整する機構(ストラットセット)において、部品組立時のグリス塗布設備の管理が不適切なため、アジャスタボルトのネジ面のグリス塗布量が不足しているものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、ネジ面が錆びて固着し、自動調整機構が作動しなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、アジャスタボルトを点検し、固着しているものは、ストラットセットを良品に交換する、固着していないものは、ネジ面を清掃し、グリスを塗布する。
