Defect

On 2019 model year medium-duty trucks, the clutch switch that controls disengagement of the power retarder (auxiliary brake) is positioned too far back on the pedal, causing the retarder release to lag behind actual clutch disengagement. When the clutch is depressed while the power retarder is active, engine speed drops and, in the worst case, the engine may stall.

Corrective action

Reprogram the engine ECU control software on all vehicles with the corrected program.

状況

2019年式中型トラックにおいて、パワータード(補助ブレーキ)解除制御用のクラッチスイッチがペダル奥側に設置されているため、クラッチ切断に対し、パワータードの解除タイミングが遅くなっているものがある。そのため、パワータード作動中にクラッチを踏んだ際、エンジン回転数が低下し、最悪の場合、エンジンが停止するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、エンジンECUの制御プログラムを対策品に書き換える。
