Filing in context
The Fuel tank is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 37 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 43 Mitsubishi notifications from 2020 in this archive. For scale, 2,487 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years.
Defect
On large tractors equipped with a 400-litre aluminum fuel tank, the tank has insufficient strength, allowing driving vibration to cause cracks to develop at the tank's weld joints. If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the cracks may propagate and result in a fuel leak.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the fuel tank with a corrected part.
