Defect
In the Vehicle Stability Control system (VSC), an error in the control program causes the two-wheel-drive vehicle speed sensor to misinterpret idle vibration while the vehicle is stationary as a vehicle speed signal, triggering a false fault judgment. As a result, the warning lamp illuminates and VSC and related systems may cease to operate.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the brake control computer's fault-detection program to the corrected specification.
