Defect
An error in the combination meter's brake warning light illumination control software causes the brake warning light to remain off during the bulb check performed at engine start. Additionally, if a brake system fault develops during vehicle use, the ABS warning light and slip indicator illuminate and a warning message appears in the center of the instrument cluster, but the brake warning light does not illuminate.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the combination meter to the corrected software specification.
