Defect
In hybrid vehicles, the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) contains a motor drive force control program that is incorrectly configured. This causes a communication fault with the engine control unit (ECU), triggering a fail-safe state in which drive power is interrupted. As a result, the vehicle may become temporarily inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the motor drive force control program in the HPCM will be updated to the corrected software.
