Defect
In the engine control unit (ECU), incorrect alternator control logic may cause engine vacuum to drop when the battery state of charge is low and the vehicle is driven immediately after a cold start or descends a long grade. The reduced vacuum supply to the brake booster may increase brake pedal effort and, in the worst case, extend stopping distance.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the engine ECU with the corrected control software.

状況
エンジン制御装置(ECU)において、発電機の制御ロジックが不適切なため、バッテリーの充電率が低い状態で、冷機始動直後の走行や長い下り坂を走行した場合、エンジンの負圧が低下する場合がある。そのためブレーキ倍力装置への負圧供給が不足して、最悪の場合、ブレーキペダルの操作力が増大し、制動停止距離が長くなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エンジンECUの制御プログラムを対策仕様に書き替える。
