Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 4 manufacturers: Mitsubishi, Nissan, Nissan Diesel & UD Trucks.
The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 27 Mitsubishi notifications from 2019 in this archive. For scale, 1,792 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 11 years and 5 months.
Defect
On large buses equipped with the optional front door glass heater, the wiring is improperly secured, causing localized bending at the arm section (upper horizontal bar) each time the door opens and closes. Repeated flexing of the wiring in this manner may cause a broken wire, which may result in smoke.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, as an interim measure, the front door glass heater wiring retention method will be changed to the corrected specification. The wiring will also be inspected, and if a broken wire is found at the affected location, the wiring will be replaced with a new part. A permanent remedy will be implemented once finalized.
