Filing in context
The Fuel hose / pipe is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 8 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 50 Mitsubishi notifications from 2018 in this archive. For scale, 3,053 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years.
Defect
On forklifts, the fuel pipe geometry is improper. Driving vibration may cause cracks to develop at the weld joint of the mounting stay. If the forklift continues to be used in this condition, the crack can propagate and cause a fuel leak. In the worst case, the engine may stall and be unable to restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the fuel pipe with the corrected part and secure it with a clamp.
