Defect
The wiring routing design for the horn switch is improper. Depending on how the wiring is installed during assembly, it may contact the steering column bracket. Driving vibration can then damage the wire insulation and cause a short circuit, making the horn sound unintentionally. In the worst case, the fuse may blow, disabling the hazard lamps, turn signals, and horn.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the affected wiring. (1) If the insulation is undamaged, reroute the wiring to establish adequate clearance from the bracket. (2) If the insulation is damaged, splice in a repair harness and reroute the wiring in the same manner.

状況
ホーンスイッチの配線において配索設計が不適切なため、組付け作業によっては配線がステアリングコラムのブラケットに接触しているものがある。そのため、走行振動等により配線の被覆が損傷してショートすることで、警音器が意図せず吹鳴し、最悪の場合、ヒューズが切れ、非常点滅表示灯不灯、方向指示器不灯、警音器不鳴になるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該配線を点検し、①被覆に損傷が無い場合は、配線とブラケットの隙間が適切となるように配索する。②被覆に損傷がある場合は、補修用ハーネスに繋ぎ替えた上で同様に配索する。
