Defect

In the electric parking brake system, the fault-detection program in the control unit's power supply circuit is incorrect. When the battery has degraded, the voltage drop that occurs during engine restart from an idling stop may be incorrectly identified as a fault. This causes the warning light to illuminate and may prevent the electric parking brake from operating.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, reprogram the control software.
