Filing in context
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Drive battery control computer as the affected component. This filing is one of 38 Mitsubishi notifications from 2017 in this archive. For scale, 2,139 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 2 months.
Defect
The cell monitor unit, which measures drive battery voltage and temperature, contains incorrectly programmed control software. When the vehicle rolls backward on an uphill start while battery voltage is temporarily fluctuating, the drive system may fail to generate propulsive force. As a result, the vehicle may be unable to move forward and may continue to roll backward down the slope.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the cell monitor unit control software to the corrected specification.
