Defect
On large and medium-sized buses with independent front suspension, improper manufacturing of the center member allows water containing road salt and deicing agents to enter the member's interior, causing corrosion near the lower arm mounting points. Continued use allows the corrosion to progress and damage the center member. In the worst case, the lower arm may detach, resulting in loss of steering control.
Corrective action
Because development of a permanent fix requires additional time, the interim measure for all vehicles is to drill an inspection port in the center member and use an endoscope to assess internal corrosion. (1) If severe corrosion is found, replace the center member with an improved part. (2) If severe corrosion is not found, apply rust-prevention treatment. Because supply of improved parts requires additional time, replacements will be performed as parts become available. A permanent corrective measure is under urgent development and will be implemented as soon as it is determined.

状況
前輪独立懸架方式の大・中型バスにおいて、センターメンバーの製造が不適切なため、センターメンバー内部に融雪剤等を含んだ水が浸入し、ロアアーム取付部付近が腐食することがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、腐食が進行し、センターメンバーが破損して、最悪の場合、ロアアームが脱落して操舵不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
恒久措置の検討に時間を要することから、全車両、暫定措置としてセンターメンバーに内部点検用の穴を開け、内視鏡を用いて内部腐食状態の点検を行い、 ①著しい腐食が認められた場合は改良品のセンターメンバーに交換する ②著しい腐食が認められなかった場合は防錆措置を実施する なお、改良品の供給に時間を要することから、供給の準備でき次第、順次交換する。 また、早急に恒久措置を検討し、決定次第、速やかに恒久措置を実施する。
