Filing in context
The Computer (Fuel System) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 3 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 27 Mazda notifications from 2017 in this archive. For scale, 338 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 years.
Defect
In the diesel engine, noise suppression for voltage fluctuations in the injector control circuit is inadequate, allowing excessive current to flow through the circuit. This damages and short-circuits the circuit, causing a fuse to blow, stopping fuel injection and resulting in engine stall.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the control software with the corrected software.
