The Fuel Hose/Pipe is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 29 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 27 Mazda notifications from 2017 in this archive. For scale, 317 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 years.
Defect
In the diesel engine, handling instructions for the fuel return hose during maintenance work are unclear. When the hose is not replaced during related service operations, the seal at the hose fitting may degrade or cracks may develop inside the hose. Continued use may result in fuel leaking from the hose fitting or through the cracks.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the fuel return hose with an improved part.
