Filing in context
The Computer is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 42 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 42 Nissan notifications from 2015 in this archive. For scale, 2,639 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 months.
Defect
The turn signal circuit in the BCM (Body Control Module), which governs electrical component operation, is improperly designed. Static electricity that builds up in the headlamp circuit can damage the turn signal control element, causing the turn signal to remain illuminated continuously. If the turn signal stays on in this condition, the affected element overheats and burns out. In the worst case, a vehicle fire may occur.
Corrective action
Add a static electricity absorption wire to the turn signal electrical circuit on all vehicles.
