Filing in context
The Rear-View Mirror is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 8 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 35 Nissan notifications from 2014 in this archive. For scale, 195 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years and 9 months.
Defect
The adhesive bond securing the mirror glass in the door mirror is insufficient. Prolonged UV exposure and other in-service conditions degrade the bond, causing the adhesive interface to detach. In the worst case, the mirror glass falls out of the housing, leaving the driver unable to monitor rearward traffic conditions.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the door mirror glass assembly with corrected parts.
