Defect
On campervans and similar vehicles, the door lock mechanism of the living-space entrance door is improperly designed, allowing excessive load to be applied to a plastic component inside the door latch each time the door is closed. Continued use causes the component to break and, in the worst case, the door may become impossible to open or close.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, add a striker plate to the catch side of the door to limit the travel range of the door latch.
