Defect
In the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, the EGR cooler and EGR valve housing are made of materials that are inadequate for the application. Exhaust gas condensate causes corrosion in these components. Corrosion debris may become trapped in the EGR valve, or the EGR valve housing may develop perforations. This leads to incomplete combustion and may result in engine stall and inability to restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the EGR cooler and replace it with the corrected/revised part. Also replace the EGR valve housing on all vehicles with the corrected/revised part.

状況
排気ガス再循環装置(EGR)のEGRクーラーおよびEGRバルブハウジングにおいて、一部の材質が不適切なため排気ガス凝縮水により腐食し、腐食片がEGRバルブに噛み込んだり、EGRバルブハウジングに穴あきが発生したりするものがある。そのため、燃焼不良となり、エンスト、再始動不能に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、EGRクーラーを確認し、対策品に交換する。また、全車両、EGRバルブハウジングを対策品に交換する。
