Defect
On medium trucks and medium-to-large buses, the seat gasket inside the air compressor — which maintains the seal between the coolant passage and the air passage — has insufficient strength. Pressure vibration from piston reciprocation causes cracks to form in the gasket, allowing coolant to enter the air passage. This produces two failure modes: (1) During air delivery, coolant travels through the lines and is expelled through the compressed air dryer (which removes moisture and oil from compressed air), reducing coolant level and illuminating a warning light. Continued operation limits engine output. (2) Heat generated during air compression evaporates the coolant, leaving crystallized solids that deposit on the intake and discharge valves, reducing airflow and causing air pressure to drop. A warning buzzer sounds and a warning light illuminates. Continued operation prevents adequate air pressure from being maintained, impairing brake function and potentially leaving the vehicle inoperable on the road.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the complete air compressor head assembly with a corrected part and perform the following additional remedies: on units where coolant intrusion is confirmed in the head air passage, replace the air compressor piston and cylinder liner with new parts and overhaul the air dryer; inspect the air system and, where coolant contamination is found, clean the air system and replace any affected components with new parts.

状況
中型トラックと大・中型バスにおいて、エアコンプレッサのシートガスケット（エアコンプレッサ内の冷却水通路とエア通路の気密性を保つもの）の強度が不足しているため、ピストンの往復運動による圧力振動で当該ガスケットに亀裂が発生するものがある。そのため、冷却水がエア通路に浸入し、①エア圧送時に配管を伝わり、エアドライヤ（圧縮空気中の水分や油分を取り除くもの）から排出され、冷却水が減少することで警告灯が点灯し、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、エンジンの出力が制限される。②エア圧縮時の熱により冷却水が乾燥し、結晶化して生成された固形物が吸排気バルブに付着することで、吸入または圧送されるエアが減少するため、エア圧が低下することで警報ブザーが鳴るとともに警告灯が点灯し、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、充分なエア圧が確保できなくなりブレーキ機能に影響を及ぼし、路上故障に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エアコンプレッサヘッド一式を対策品と交換するとともに以下の改善措置を実施する。 ・当該ヘッドのエア通路に冷却水の浸入が認められたものは、エアコンプレッサのピストンとシリンダライナーを新品に交換し、エアドライヤのオーバーホールを実施する。 ・エア系統を点検し、冷却水の混入が認められたものはエア系統を清掃し、不具合が生じた部品を新品に交換する。
