Defect
On large trucks and buses equipped with air brakes, the safety valve—designed to open and relieve pressure when air line pressure rises excessively—has insufficient air discharge capacity. This allows air line pressure to reach abnormally high levels, causing the ASR valve (an electromagnetic valve that temporarily applies braking to suppress wheel spin on slippery surfaces) to malfunction and produce brake drag. Continued operation with brake drag causes the brakes to overheat and, in the worst case, may result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, install two additional safety valves at the compressed air dryer outlet to increase air discharge capacity. Additionally, inspect the brake components; if drag is confirmed, replace any affected parts with serviceable units.

状況
①大型トラック・バスのエアブレーキにおいて、セーフティバルブ(エアラインの保護を目的にエアラインが高圧になった場合に弁が開き圧力をさげるもの)のエア排出量が不足しているため、エアラインが高圧になることでASRバルブ(滑りやすい路面等でタイヤの空転を抑えるために一時的に制動をかける電磁弁)が誤作動し、ブレーキの引き摺りを起こすものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けるとブレーキが過熱し、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
①全車両、エアドライヤの出口にセーフティバルブを2個追加し、エア排出量を増加させる。また、ブレーキ周りを点検し、引き摺りの発生が確認された場合には、異常が認められた部品を良品に交換する。
